I started my clown education in January of 2002. I have attended numerous venues of clown education in the last seven years - i.e., Mooseburger Clown Camp, Great Clown Adventure, Clown Camp in Wisconsin, Clown Camp Cruises, attended WRCA, Face Painting Conventions in Florida and, WCA Conventions all over the USA and next year the WCA Convention in Winnipeg, Canada. I have arranged and gone to numerous workshops whose subject matter involved clowning in one aspect or another. I have clowned in the US, Russia, and the Pacific Rim. I will be clowning in Singapore in 2010 as well as attending "Clown Camp in Singapore."
Education is very important in my life - both my clown, face painting and private life; so, I will continue taking workshops, classes and going to clown camps.
I am a member of the San Diego Clown Conspiracy alley (formerly the North County Clown Conspiracy), WRCA (Western Region Clowns of America), COAI (Clowns of America, International), and WCA. (World Clown Association). I am currently serving as the Bo Dino Scholarship Chairman for WCA. I have been in this office since 2007.
And why? I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in December, 2001, and, found myself dealing with cancer and all of its implications.. I found myself wanting to spend more time with LoMax, my husband aka Ed who was at that time, a very active Al Bahr Shrine Clown and an extremely busy CPA doing tax returns for his many clients. In real life my husband is a CPA working for Private Asset Managemant, Inc. as their CFO. He also has/had a large tax service which entails many 18 hour days from the beginning of January to April 15th of each year thus making me a "yearly tax return widow." I found myself not only wanting to spend more time with Ed, my adult children and grandchildren -- I found myself looking for something that Ed and I could share -- couldn't be a CPA, or a tax preparer -- being a clown sounded like fun.
My face painting grew out of my clowning. It is yet another skill that I have grown to enjoy doing. I have taken numerous classes and workshops from leading face painting artists - i.e., Mama Clown aka Marcella Murad, Heather Banks, Mark Reid, the Wolfe brothers, etc.
